About Us

The Diasporic Vietnamese Artists Network’s mission is to promote the voices and stories of the Vietnamese diaspora by cultivating a community of writers, poets and artists, and connecting their work to readers, audiences, and diasporic communities around the world.

As a Communications Coordinator, you will consistently update social media handles, maintain communications, and perform other administrative tasks required to bring DVAN programs, projects, events, and fundraisers to fruition. The Communications Coordinator is a part-time position that reports directly to the Executive Director. The Coordinator will serve as the first line of contact for writers/artists, the public, team leaders, media, and other stakeholders. They will work closely with the ED to ensure the day-to-day operations of DVAN are smooth and to stay updated on DVAN’s social media engagements.

This is a multi-faceted role with great opportunities for learning and growth. The role may be conducted remotely, but preference is given to candidates living on the U.S. West Coast.

Duties:

  • Maintain social media handles on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Create various graphics such as flyers, squares, and event banners (follow our branding and marketing guidelines; basic graphic design skills a must)
  • Write, format, and post monthly DVAN e-newsletters (i.e. MailChimp)
  • Make periodic updates and “DVAN News” summaries on WordPress backend to maintain website
  • Write press releases and send to media outlets for events and important updates
  • Reach out to external organizations for advertisements, community partnerships, and promotions
  • Monitor and respond to emails and inquiries that come into DVAN email accounts
  • Work closely with ED and maintain calendar to facilitate clear communication channels between project leads
  • Take on additional administrative responsibilities on a case-by-case basis

Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience in administration
  • Exceptional writing ability, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and be self-motivated
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms (FB, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
  • Familiarity with Kindful, WordPress, MailChimp, Adobe Photoshop
  • Must be able to perform basic graphic design tasks (flyers, image formatting, newsletter templates)
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus
  • Passion for arts administration and arts advocacy a plus
