Textures of Remembrance: Traveling Exhibition at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center

In collaboration with Exhibit Envoy (EE), the Diasporic Vietnamese Artists Network (DVAN) will present Textures of Remembrance: Vietnamese Diasporic Artists and Writers Reflect on April 30, 1975. This arts-and-humanities-driven traveling exhibition by contemporary Vietnamese Americans illuminates today’s Vietnamese American artists’ voices. The project will include 30 written word, visual art, and audiovisual works that reflect on the impact of April 30, 1975. Textures of Remembrance will be on display at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center in Oakland, California, from March 27th, 2022 to June 13th, 2022. After the exhibit completes its term, it will be digitally augmented into an online exhibition to provide an even broader reach. This important project will humanize the Vietnamese diasporic experience and refugee experiences as a whole when the insistence of the human worth of every person can be seen as a radical act.
