A look back to DVAN’s first major event, Vietnamese Poets of the Diaspora, which was apart of the International Poetry Festival in San Francisco,\u00a0<\/em>November 8, 2008. Among many of the poet participants, we focus on\u00a0M\u1ed9ng Lan, poet and artist.<\/em><\/p>\n

M\u1ed9ng Lan is one of the growing number of talented Vietnamese diasporic poets. \u00a0Not only is she a poet, she is a multi-faceted artist\u00a0\u2014 writer, painter, photographer, and tango dancer. As a poet, M\u1ed9ng Lan has numerous publications, including Song of the Cicadas<\/em>, an award-winning poetry collection; Why is the Edge Always Windy?<\/em>; Love Poem to Tofu & Other Poems<\/em>, a chapbook of poetry and artwork; and the most recent, Tango, Tangoing: Poems & Art<\/em>, which is also published as a bilingual Spanish-English edition.<\/p>\n

At the Vietnamese Poets of the Diaspora event, M\u1ed9ng Lan introduces readers into her \u00a0new publication, Tango, Tangoing: Poems & Art.<\/em> Drawing from her five-month stay in Bueno Aires, M\u1ed9ng Lan brings together the tango, poetry, photography, and painting to give poetry visual and aural dimensions.
